Accounting Countdown...8 hours to go
In the grand scheme of life, it's just one test. It's not going to make or break any of us. But in the bubble of grad school, this test takes on much more meaning than any of us would like to admit. It's the countless hours spent in break out rooms, reading, learning, working through practice problems, and reviewing. It's the frustration and fear that all of the work and effort will not translate into success on the final exam. I'm ready to take it now...but there's still 8 hours left to stress. I try to keep a level head but it's all relative when you know this one exam determines your grade. The uncertainty and knowledge that the teacher "takes no prisoners" and includes material "just to throw you off" keeps me on edge.BUT once it is over tonight at 9:00 pm I will be exstatic. A weight will be lifted off of my shoulders and I will know that one of the tougher classses in grad school is behind me.

FINALS are HERE!
If you were to guess my anxiety level during finals week it would fall a lot closer to feeling stuck in a lions cage than relaxing on the beach with a cold, refreshing margarita. The projects, both group and individual are lined up like dominoes, due almost every other day spaced conveniently with an Accounting final that will be anything but easy. Somehow I managed to go my entire college career without having any nightmares about failing a test but i've already had two in grad school. That's a 200% increase! (couldn't resist throwing that one in there. I was looking for a witty comment about learning how to do math but couldn't come up with anything clever).
It's interesting how some people need to get organized before they start studying, but not me. I easily tune out and ignore most cleaning responsibilities around the apartment. My take-out food consumption increases significantly. I use a lot more disposable eating utensils because the idea of washing dishes sounds horrible normally, but now i have an excuse, finals.
There's a general lack of time, but finding a moment or two to relax is entirely underrated. It's much easier to absorb information and concentrate longer if you get enough sleep. I say this as it's 12:23 in the morning and i'm getting up early for a study session. Maybe I should listen to my own suggestions! Good night!

Finals around the Corner!
Orientation feels like it was yesterday and the second round of finals feel like they are tomorrow. Neither are the case but both crazy thoughts. The stress of starting grad school has quickly transformed into the real life stress of failing an accounting test a week from Tuesday. It's unfortunate that the amount of studying will not directly correlate to the grade many of us will receive but that's the reality. I guess no one ever said accounting is easy.
Acronyms.
If I have to learn ONE more acronym, I'm going to lose my mind.

oh and p.s. I hate that I posted a semi-business-related comic strip.
